Beginners Yoga
New to yoga? Been a while? Our intro classes are the best place to get started. These classes are offered to give the new student a solid introduction to the asana (movement), breath and meditative aspects of a yoga practice. Everyone is welcome to attend our intro classes.
Restorative
Restorative yoga is practiced in a quiet space, using props to support you for long, luxurious stretches as you open and unwind, leaving stress behind. This session is designed to open the chest, relax the spine and release tension that affects your ability to breathe freely.
All Levels
These classes are open to all students. The intent is to deliver a balanced practice, with a good overall stretch and some deepening of the breath. Adaptations will be offered for students who want to work a bit easier and for those who want to take things up a notch. Practices will vary depending on participants' needs for each class. We encourage everyone to work at their own pace and tune in to any challenges in the body.
Community Class
Our Community Classes in good weather are practiced out of doors at The Gazebo on the Cape Girardeau Courthouse lawn, 41 N. Lorimer, overlooking the Mighty Mississippi. Wednesday morning Community Class is Karma Yoga based and donations to the instructor are welcome. Sunday evenings are our $5 Community Classes. Both are wonderful classes for new students curious about yoga, regular students or for anyone wishing to practice but feeling a financial pinch. In case of rain or during winter months (November through April), the Community Classes move indoors to the Studio.
Vinyasa
Vinyasa is a linking of the breath with movement in a flowing sequence of postures. Prepare to sweat and challenge your body. Each class will vary in sequence and challenge. All are welcome as modifications are given to inspire you to your own personal edge.
Yoga Kids
These fun and engaging classes explore yoga poses, cooperative games, breathing and relaxation exercises and convey lessons in self-expression, body-awareness, and social skills. Non-competitive and fun, students develop strength, flexibility, concentration and confidence. Pre-Registered 6 week sessions are offered by Tracy Curtis on a continuing basis. Pre Natal
During your pregnancy, connect with your body, and your baby, through yoga. Focus on breathing, centering, and releasing tension to prepare the body and mind for labor. Postures are modified to accommodate the changing needs of the expectant mother. Prior yoga experience is helpful but not necessary. A great place to connect with new moms-to-be! Beyond Yoga Basics
A great place for regular and intermediate students who would like to build on their practice. This class will be focused on expanding the understanding of breath work (pranayama), yoga philosophy, additional poses and building on familiar ones. Come join us as we grow together as a community of yogis and friends. Be prepared to laugh, smile, and feel the bliss that yoga practice will bring to your life.
